Where Is Punta de Mita, Mexico? Location, Distances & How to Get There

Punta de Mita is a small surf and fishing village on the northern point of Banderas Bay, in the state of Nayarit on Mexico's Pacific coast. It's the gateway to the Riviera Nayarit, and it's where we live and ride every day.

Flying in from the US and Canada

PVR has direct flights from many US and Canadian cities, especially in winter high season. Once you land, the airport sits on the Nayarit side of the bay, so you head north along the coastal highway toward Bucerías and La Cruz, then out to the point.

Getting from the airport to Punta de Mita

You can grab an airport taxi, use a rideshare outside the terminal, or book a private transfer. Our private transfer is $90 USD ($1,350 MXN) per vehicle to Punta de Mita, or $110 USD ($1,650 MXN) to Sayulita or San Pancho — up to 4 people with luggage, either direction, booked on WhatsApp with your flight number.

Getting around once you're here

The village is walkable, but the beaches, surf breaks and neighboring towns are spread along the coast. A street-legal 150cc scooter is the easiest way to explore: no traffic stress, easy parking in Sayulita, and racks for your surfboard.
