5 scooter routes around Punta de Mita

These are the rides we do ourselves on days off: town loops, the coast run to Sayulita, jungle roads to Higuera Blanca and sunset laps past Careyeros. Pick one a day — that's what a 48-hour rental is for.

01

The town & Anclote loop

Half a day · easy

Start with coffee at Marea Café, ride the whole village, park by the pier and swim at El Anclote. Mellow peelers for beginners, palapas for shade and palapa bars for the post-session beer. Finish with tacos at Tacos Teresa before the sun drops.

02

The Sayulita run

Full day · the classic

Twenty minutes of coastal highway and you're in Sayulita: cobblestones, papel picado, boutiques and the best street food scene on the coast. Scooter parking is easy — lock up, walk the plaza, grab a Choco Banana from the stand that started it all in 1991, then surf the main break or a quiet cove north of town.

04

Higuera Blanca jungle road

Half day · an adventure

Head inland through Higuera Blanca, a real Nayarit village most visitors never see. Fuel up on wood-fired barbacoa tacos at El Acha, then hike Monkey Mountain for the bay-view payoff. Twisty jungle road, zero traffic, all vibes.

05

The Careyeros sunset loop

Evening · easy

South along the coast to Careyeros Beach: quieter sand, Barracuda's ceviche and Baja-style shrimp tacos, and the beachfront tables at Mauka when it's a special night. Time it so the ride back lands right on sunset.

Wave check along the way

Every route passes a break. Here's what each one is about — and when one closes out, the next is minutes away.

La Lancha

Point break

A jungle-trail walk and one of the friendliest, longest lefts and rights in Banderas Bay. Strap the racks on and go.

El Anclote

Beginner heaven

Right in front of town: mellow peelers, surf schools, and palapas with cold beers waiting after the session.

Sayulita

20 min ride

Cobblestones, papel picado, boutiques and the best street food scene on the coast. Scooter parking is easy.

San Pancho

30 min ride

Slow, artsy and green. Polo fields, jungle roads and sunsets that make the ride back unforgettable.
